JCreator too slow

Hello to everyone,
i'm new to Java and i'm learning the language.
i'm testing some java applets (i use awt). I use JCREATOR PRO
More specifically i'm testing the awt methods:
drawLine,fillOval,fillArc etc.
The complilation is relatively fast.
However when i 'm trying to run the applets the process is too slow

Any help would be appreciated

code you did not supply

thanks for reply.
it was some open programs running in the backgroud that
slowed my pc and jcreator too.
jcreator is ok
