JDK 1.4 installation error

I have Windows ME and Win98 on 2 computers.
I downloaded the JDK 1.4 from the Sun Java web site.
and I got this error message when I tried to run the installaton
*.exe file:

Error in MSVCRT.DLL

What should I do?

You probably need to do a Windows Update.
The newer JDK Windows installation package are using the newer version of
windows installer.
