JMF for Linux: No such capture device

Discussion in 'Java' started by Scott Preston, Jun 27, 2006.

  1. Hi All,

This error thread has been floating around for a few years with ZERO
    resolution.

    Error instantiating class: com.sun.media.protocol.v4l.DataSource :
java.io.IOException: java.lang.Error: No such capture device

While I can get the jmstudio to run, no matter what I try on this Linux
box (Ubuntu 6.06 Desktop) I get this error.

The code works file on Windows, and this is important because I really
need software that you write once, run anywhere. The only thing I want
to change is the MediaLocator from vfw://0 to v4l://0.

    Any help?

    Thanks,
    Scott
