JSP Method Naming Convention

Discussion in 'Java' started by Buck Turgidson, Mar 2, 2004.

  1. Probably a silly question, but is there a significance to the underscore in
the method _jspService()? The other methods in a servlet generated from a
JPS are jspInit() and jspDestroy. Does the underscore signify something
    meaningful?

Dating back many decades to usage in other languages including C, underscores
usually indicate 'internal' names. Name you shouldn' mess with. Such a name
looks good, but they might change the name next time they re-write the
    JSP transation tool.
