JVM to Database timezone

Hello,

I have established JDBC connection with (Oracle)database.
I have a date object which is in JVM timezone ( TimeZone.getDefault()
Timezone).
How can we convert this date from JVM timezone to database timezone
associated with the jdbc connection established.
