locating resources in a jar

hi, i've developed a java standalone application. it uses a object serialized in a file to store persistent data. there's no locating problem executing application in my IDE. this is'nt the case excuting the jar

I can't use getClass().getResourceAsStream() method as it returns a InputStream Object instead of a FileInputStream to wrap with a ObjectInputStream.

how can i do.thanks for help
