W-e-e-lll, I just use commands on the database. Aping the florida site, I
would have assumed there to be a table containing all the "departments" in
the left-hand column, Life, Health, Disability, etc, with another table
containing "sub-departments" of each "department", the two tables having a
common field something like "department_name".
Then it's a case of a JOIN between the two tables listing the departments
and their sub-departments.
I'm surprised the Site Map link doesn't appear in all screens in the
left-hand column; I'd have thought it was more or less essential. But then,
what do I know?

I am not sure what you are driving at with the discussion of commands
on the database and departments. I assume you have your web pages as
records in a database and thus can manipulate the records to create a
site map.
Unfortunately the only web enable database I know is Notes/Domino, and
while this is a great delivery vehicle for the web, it is not getting
the support it needs from IBM. So I gave up on the Notes/Domino
routine.
(As an aside, it is really ashame because Notes/Domino has so many
features that would cure a lot of Content Management issues, security
issues, and programmability. But without market share as a web
publishing server and tool, it does not have the user base. And
without a large user base, other issues pop up and don't get resolve
until IBM decides to fix them, if ever. With the other ways of
deliverying html, I can turn to this group and others for help, and
eventually find ways to get around problems. It just got very hard to
work around Notes/Domino's quirks.)
Anyway, getting back to you post, I am just publishing page by page on
the AFI site.
Thanks for pointing out the lack of site map link on some pages. I
used NetObjects Fusion on this site. I like NOF for some of its
features, one of which is the ease of creating multi borders. A draw
back to multiple borders is have the memory to be able to change all
of the borders. Obviously I missed this one. So thanks for pointing
it out.
Best regards,
Al
