Ray

hi all
i am looking at building a small site for a not for profit
organisation
they have in their spec, the inclusion of a message board or
discussion forum...there seem to be plenty out there and a lot of
freebies....not having used one before am hoping for specific
recomendations.....hopefully it could be set up to reflect the style
of the rest of the site so users would not feel disconected from the
original site ...
could anybody recomend a board either cheap to buy or even free..
thanks in advance for any info provided
will be using frontpage as the development tool

need to know a little about your server first, but in general take a look at
hotscripts

First, depending on your needs and if your site is hosted on a FP enabled
web server and you can create subwebs, you can use the FP Discussion Web
under File Menu | New | Web | Discussion Web and add it to the current site
as a subweb.

If you are not hosted on a FP enabled web server, then you need to first
determine what type of server, and what type of server-side scripting
language is supported, such as ASP, PHP, CGI-Perl, then you can begin your
search.

If you have Php and MySql you cant go past Envision Power Board from
http://www.invisionboard.com/

Its Free and it is skinable so you can give it the look and feel of your
current site.

And it is almost bullet proof!

Try this one, it's extremely good and very versatile. the best I've seen
around - In my opinion.

My experience with message boards is they are far too complicated for the
average user and people do not use them as a result

I've used a discussion board called "Discus" (developed by the Hope
University Chemistry Department) and like it. It's free to use and fairly
simple to install. It includes a lot of features your client will like.
