META redirect question

M

Mr. Bill

Thanks again, can I send you "virtual cash"?

I see what you are saying. Each "slide" would be an individual page, I
suppose with it's own <img> on it with alt text to explain the purpose of
the image. And rather than displaying it on a page then let the user decide
whether to view it at all or take a pass. Then if the user decides to view
the pics at all give them the opportunity to to select their own "viewing
time" for each of the pages.?.

Now to go figure out how to doo all of this...

BTW, are you REALLY unclothed? *smile*

Mr. Bill

Ohhh Noooooooooo

No reading, just pictures. Of course that would be a thousand words so
perhaps.... just kidding.

Ok then, how do you know I'm done looking at your pretty pictures?

Ahh my friend, you misunderstand. What I am trying to do is an IFrame
slide show. The redirection is from one page in the slide show (within
the IFrame) to another then to another then back to the first. I am not
trying to hide a redirect, it is just a bit annoying to hear the clicking
noise every time a slide changes within the IFrame. I am investigating
other ways to accomplish what I am trying to do but up to now this method
seems the simplest. And with my lack of knowledge I have absolutely no
ulterior motive and don't even understand your comments about dishonesty
or doing things evil with redirection.
And I really don't even want to understand them, truth be known.
Thanks for your response though.

Why didn't you say so to begin with?
Meta is used for the entire site, not just for one page, let alone iframes.
All you need for what you want to do is to set the information to present
itself on the source page like in target=_self.
The clicking sound is inherit with the browser and/or machine. You have no
control on that.

Word of caution: Never mention frames, iframes, or tables in this group.
It will only get brucie ticked off.

please do not reply to the jackass.
do not patronize any site he gives as information about me as 90% of that
information is false.

I suppose a "pause" feature could be built in somehow. This is a purely
academic discussion and your point is well taken. I was thinking of only
maybe three or four pictures in a loop from 1 to x and back to one to x but
what if you wanted to study one for some reason? I see what you mean. Food
for thought...

Worry thee not. Others do not make my mind up for me.

I have been a usnet junkie for a very long time and I disregard flame wars,
extracting whatever useful content there is in posts and discarding usless
flame junk.

I will digest all of this at will and figure out what is useful and what is
not.

And what about that other 10% ??? *smile*

Richard the St00pid Bullis stated in Message-ID:
<[email protected]> You claim I am a pedophile simply for the
fact I state I enjoy looking at naked kids. Show me the law, any state or
federal law, in which this is a criminal act. Some state laws may say that
posession may be illegal, but not the actual viewing of.

its really rough and nasty but i'm so far off my tree on oxycontin i
don't even think i'm in the same forest. i think it works ok. when i
find my tree i'll tidy it all up a bit.
BTW, are you REALLY unclothed? *smile*

yes! would you like some pics?

does it need to be a slide show?
does it matter what order the images
are shown? would just a thumb gallery suffice rather then making the
visitor sit through images they may not be interested in?

if you do want the slide show then don't do an automatic one. supply
links. if you like you could offer an automatic /option/ where the
visitor can select the speed (because you have no idea what the speed
should be).

So your solution is to change the design. In many cases this is fine,
but in some it isn't. Sometimes, presentation is a part of the content.
And if presented in an alternate fashion that insure that everyone can
"see" the content, no one will enjoy it.

if the slide show is automatic then some people will be annoyed that its
too slow, some will be annoyed that its too fast and some will be happy.
most will not be happy. there is nothing wrong with asking the visitor
what speed they want so all visitors can be happy.

Mr. Bill

Nice! Exactly what I was looking for! Now, could you point me to some
resources that would help me to understand the code for the page? I see
there is an index of the images you have displayed but as I know nothing
about indexing images I think it might be a good study to figure out how you
did what you did on this slide show page. Please bear (or bare if you wish)
with me as I learn. You have been a great help and I think you again for
it.

As far as the pictures go, uh just the important parts :)

Thanks again.
