    With all due respect, top posting is considered bad netiquette in forums
    like newsgroups and many mailing lists. If you've never seen/read/heard of
    it, and have the inclination, take a peak at the Emily Postnews Netiquette
    FAQ:

    Much of it is from an older, simpler time...

    As for why it causes arguments, the following might help:
