Newbees: It's Quiz Time

They way I see it, is that your viewers will
look at these types of inconsistencies in
your site, and probably move on to a more
reliable, consistant, and even 'correct'
web tutorial site.

So why did you persue further pages on my site? As for "inconsistencies"
they are not... only an offering of another "way" to accomplish the
objective...

You see, my fellow, the Web Design process is still quite flexable, as
there is "more than one way to skin a cat"... as long as browser
manufacturers continue to support the end results, these "alternatives"
will continue to be used...

As for your other comments regarding ass*oles... you obviously fall into
that category with the rest... and even suggesting that I don't try to
"defend" my site, is itself an obvious ass*ole thought itself, but in
actuality I think I am wasteing my time with fellows like you... my
objective (originally at least in this thread) was to help educate and
expand the html-web design thought processes of newbees, not to generate
a thread of bull based on certain individuals who think they really know
web design, but who (in the real world) only know their little
book-learned aspect of it, if that!

Disco was trying to see what an averge user would experience.

You condemn the <font> tag for vaild reasons in one part, then support it in
another. That is quite an inconsistency and you haven't exlained why you did
so.

While different methods are indeed available, there are those which are
much, *much* better than others. JS, for example, really isn't a great way
to achieve site navigation (nor is any method which can be turned off).
As for your other comments regarding ass*oles... you obviously fall

You must understand that our respect is earned by accepting our critiism and
putting forth a site which is compliant and valid. Respect is earned, not
demanded.
my objective (originally at least in this thread) was to help
educate and expand the html-web design thought processes of newbees,

We wish to achieve the same, but doing so with poor code and bad methods are
not how it should be done.
not to generate a thread of bull based on certain individuals who
think they really know web design, but who (in the real world) only
know their little book-learned aspect of it, if that!

The people here are infact learned in the real world and know which
practical methods work and which don't. Their advice is something which you
should heed.

Why don't we just direct them to
URL:http://www.w3schools.com ?
There are plenty of quizzes there!

True, but mine is definately more controversial... but why don't any of
the other so called "experts" on this NG offer their own Quiz.... too
lazy or not within there realm of help priorities... yet they stand
ready to criticize mine... typical ...

They're not controversial; twenty different people telling one person that
his quiz sucks, why it sucks, and why the site's design sucks is not a
controversy; it's agreement in unison.

Well, once again you've evaded any questions asked of you. It's no wonder
that you're not getting respect you think you deserve.

WOW... now I see what you mean!!! Your site is so full of original info,
so full of interest, color, and navigation... bet it took you years to
develop it? An html amature's site for sure!!!

Why don't you keep your crap comments to yourself, now that we see what
you have to offer...

Yep, it's easy to agree... difficult to challange...

I find that many of you "regulars" in this NG, tend to agree with each
other, but not because of the facts, but because each of you is afraid
to "out-step" the group's "code of ethics" (for lack of a better term)
and show any individualism...

You all are part of a "wanny-be-flock" of web designers... who have to
agree with each other or risk being ostracized by the "group"...

What a sick, predjudiced flock of individuals... have none of you any
sense of fellowship outside of this attempt to help others?

I see more personal criticism here (probably due to real jealousy) than
actual html help!!!

Too Bad..............>

My approach was simplicity and ease of use. I didn't distract the user with
color, it's thoughtfully laid out, and I was able to put it into a single
page.

I was one of the few people who tried to crticise your site without
excessive brutality. Speaking of comments, were you ever going to respond to
any of the suggestions put forth by me or Disco? Or am I just wasting time?

Take the advice you've been offered and withdraw your site, rework it and
resubmit it.

There is little point in you inviting comments if you're going to critisise
the comments you asked for. Advice is free, it's up to you if you take it
....... in your case I'd quit digging yourself into a hole and take it.

BTW - there is no need to be rude to those people who tried to help you,
they were not rude to you so you should at the very least give them the
curtousey of a polite reply.

And yours is better?

Without a doubt!

...FYI "your" site is a M E S S on MSNTV's browser... oh but I know...
you could care less if 1.5 million users can't read it from Web Tv's...
too bad, you say... "I'm not going to change it just because some
off-the-wall browser can't read it as I intended" .... What kind of Web
Design is that!!!

<brag>Mine, on the otherhand is very accessible on MSNTV2.8+, IE5+,
NN7+, Mozilla1.4+, and Opera7.1+, and many more...</brag> ........>

Is your definition of an "open mind": 'something that likes bright colours
and avoids straight lines, efficiency, and truth'?

mate, how old are you? i'm only asking because you seem really immature.

i don't understand why you can't take this constructive criticism and work
with it instead of getting defensive and telling everyone else that
_they're_ crap.

push your ego out of the way for once and re-evaluate everything from an
objective perspective. the practice might help you later in life.

I'm old and strong, mate: http://davmagic.com/info/PAGES3.html and
unafraid to speak it as I see it...

I haven't heard a pip-squeek of compliment about anything on my site
from anyone, only destructive criticism... that's why I'm "defensive"...

Where I "come from"... a critic (who truthfully wants to help) would
give a small encouragement or compliment BEFORE criticizing harshly, and
before criticizing without "showing his hand" with a better webpage of
his own!

So many here, take unfair shots but offer no better in return... infact
what I have seen so far, almost all of the sites that these "regulars"
have are IMHO boring, plain, ranting, and poor reading in general...

I am happy to enjoy on average... 110,000 hits and 45,000 page views per
month with my site... and have literly hundreds of happy surfers who
compliment it and who ask and get help from me...

It's only because I use (along with a Computer) a MSNTV Browser, that
these "regulars" act the way they do... sad but true.... how about you,
mate? How old are you! Do you have a Profile online like I do... I bet
not... my point exactly!!! Bye.

Various replies have given you the facts on why your quiz is wrong - you
just won't listen.

No, we actually agree with each other. Is that really so hard to believe?
You all are part of a "wanny-be-flock" of web designers... who have to
agree with each other or risk being ostracized by the "group"...

Most of us couldn't care less what the "group" thinks - we believe what we
believe, and if anyone proves us wrong, we concede the point.
What a sick,

I don't know about the others here, but I'm quite healthy at the moment.
Thanks for your concern, though.
predjudiced

Against bad design and coding practices? Absolutely.
flock of individuals... have none of you any
sense of fellowship outside of this attempt to help others?

That's right - we're here to help others. Sometimes that means what's
often called "tough love" - telling them the truth, whether they like it or
not.
I see more personal criticism here (probably due to real jealousy) than

Jealousy? You really are full of yourself, aren't you?
actual html help!!!

Then you aren't reading the right posts. There is heaps of good advice
here. Sometimes you have to dodge the abuse, but this is a public
newsgroup, not a helpdesk.
