I've been looking for some sample code that will create a mouse over
popup menu.

somethng that would work like this:

In its normal state:

samplemenu

on mouse over it would do this:

samplemenu ->menuitem1
->menuitem2
->menuitem3

each menuitem would represent a link.
TIA

Real browsers do not need javascript to do this:

Yeah, Michael, by and large you're right, though there are a few exceptions.
Myself I've never used a script from there verbatim - I've always spent some
time cleaning and tweaking.

Good call.
