Newbie using too many tools! Need to call page from page

Hello,

Aside from the fact that I'm a newbie to web development, I've been thrown
into the middle of learning old ASP, ASP.net, Javascript and HTML.

I have an asp page that I'll call "download.asp?idItemID=4"

What I'm trying to do is have a button on this page that will either
download an item in the SQL database that matches the ID of 4, OR open
another page that can figure that out, launch the download and close the
form.

Having said that, I would like to get away from Javascript and get more into
ASP.net, but it's either just late and I'm tired, or I can't find anything
helpful in the help file!

anyone that could give me some info on the best way to tackle this (or at
least a better help file search string) I would greatly appreciate it.

similar.
