Time may have been invented by the Brits, time zones weren't needed
before America was 'discovered' I think. But maybe those Brits who
first settled in America still thought of Britain as the center of the
earth when they noticed that the evenings are awfully long in their
new habitat ;-)

Time wasn't invented :))

The first European measuring point for time, long before Greenwich, was,
and being English I hate to say it, Paris, France that is not Texas, before
you Americans get any ideas.

Last time I was in the Alice it was 30 degrees and bucketing down rain.
Nice. Even saw rain on the rock, a most unusual event.

Never been to Tennant Creek.

Still, it *is* a newsworthy event if the maximum anywhere is above 40.

You've lived a sheltered life. I reside in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, and
the maximum here regularly hits above 45 per summer.

I forgot what it's origins are, it's ancient and pretty much useless,
but besides being able to use IE and Gecko, Homesite does actually have
a "built-in" browser.

Why do you think it's 'pretty much useless?'

How do you know so much about Australia?
I was several times in Australia.
The first time (a holiday) a trip from Darwin to Sydney in 29 days.
The second time for 5 days by a client in Adelaide.
2 times for 14 days in Adelaide by a girlfriend.

So you can say Australia stole mine heart. :)
I wouldn't have thought anyone
outside Australia (or most people inside for that matter) had even heard
of Tennant Creek! Let alone spelt it correctly! ;-)
Hmmm. A good memory and thanx for the complement.

Ever been in Mataranka or Kakadu National Park in Arnhem Land.

He lucked out with Coober Pedy though :)
That one I had a little doubt with the o's.
I believe that some people had made some films in that region eg. Mad
Max, Star Wars...

I saw a poll somewhere years ago. IIRC something like 20% of people living
in Sydney have never been to the other side of the Blue Mountains. Scary.

But still 80% of the people of Sydney have been to the other side of the
Blue Mountains. :-D
