onClick works fine in Firefox, bombs in IE?

I've got some PHP and javascript working together to create a
marginless image popup from another arbitrary image. This works
perfectly in Firefox, but IE bombs and I'm not really knowledgable
about Javascript to be able to tell immediately why. Here's the
relevant code from the page:

<a href="#"
onClick="window.open('http://www.somesite.com/popup.php?image=popup.jpg',
'popup', 'width=737,height=492, directories=no, location=no,
menubar=no, scrollbars=no, status=no, toolbar=no, resizable=no,
top=300, left=300'); return false" style="cursor:pointer"><img
src="http://www.somesite.com/pics/thumb.jpg" alt="Click here to see a
larger image"></a>

Anyone have any ideas?

How does it bomb specifically? I tried it on my IE (6), and it worked
just fine. I did have to tell IE to "allow blocked content", though.

You could try not loading it in a new browser window, as that's what a
lot of ads do and some browsers are a bit narcy about it. Also I don't
want people telling me which desktop windows to have open. They can
have their frame, and that's that.

Anyway, should it interest you, here's a free system that handles
opening html/js windows to wrap new content instead of new browser
windows. If you go there and type in the javascript box:
CreateWindow("http://www.carmelmooney.com/images/glenbeigh-landscape.jpg");

You will see what I mean. You can also pass the image element, instead
of the url. You can also pass height and position. The source is all
the one file. Help is one the page.
