overlaying image problem solved

Very simple.
Just gave the poster image an absolute position, gave it a z-index value of
1 and bingo!
The new image now overlays the scrolling division as desired.
Why do I have to go through a hundred websites to find out that z-index:0 is
the background of the page?
Why doesn't w3c mention this fact? It would makes thing so much simpler.

It isn't.

If the W3C doesn't mention some HTML or CSS feature, it doesn't exist.
