parsing directory

    hi
    i m newbie in perl so i was trying to figure out how to parse filename
    directory in the form field when the user submit it.

    It depends. What kind of form field? An HTML form? A Tk interface?
    Curses, Gtk, Qt, Cocoa... what?

    The docs for CGI.pm have quite a bit to say about uploading files. One
    of the things it says is that the file name you get back will vary with
    the browser being used - some return the full path, others just the file
    name.

    Have you read the posting guidelines for this group? They include a
    number of helpful tips for beginners.

    Did the OP ask about file uploads? In that case, the CPAN module
    CGI::UploadEasy might be helpful.
