Performance Counter at Application Start?

Framework 2.0, in the application_start method, is it possible to
install temporary performance counters so an admin could look at
different events as they happen? The site does not do any Windows
impersonation, so I think the perf counters would have to be added from
an "unprivileged" account, is that right?

    Thanks.
