This newsgroup is not just some fantasy cybergroup. It is, at best,
knowledge sharing among diverse intellectuals.

Each and every message here is written by a person. Saying that none of
this matters and is not real is crap. I am as real as the next person
reading this and if you want to know what I look like, here I am:-

YMMD.

It is *not* real. The medium is "lossy" and distorts reality, similar
to television and other mass media. It does matter, though. Stones
thrown in here create waves that break on every shore.

"Girliemac?" Never mind, I don't want to know.
Any one else? Post your pic.

Why? Mine's easy enough to find anyway.

Why are you on someone else's flicker page? Seems odd to me. And why the
urge to share personal details in such a techie newsgroup?

But the flicker page had some interesting shots of aquatic mammals, and
some other stuff, but it seems only one of you, if that's actually who it
is.

Nice implants!

My pics and other stuff are easy to find. Dogpile me. And I got my dog his
own domain for his birthday last week...

Because she took my pic and put it there. I don't have my own flickr
account.

It is odd that a girl took my picture?

Sometimes it is easy to lose scope of the fact the fact that these
messages are written by real people.

The other pictures are hers. I don't know all of who is in there, other
than the marine mammal center pics.

It is odd that a girl took my picture?

No, not at all. But the "girliemac" perhaps needed some explanation. When I
first looked at the flickr pages I thought it was your account, and that
was wierd!

I agree, and I like to have a real image of a person in my mind instead of
whatever my brain dreams up, which is often based on real people with
similar names or other cues from nyms (such as pointy ears). I choose to
use my real name and there is plenty of information on my various web pages
if anyone chooses to know more about me, either professionally or
personally. I consider it important enough to have two domains in my name
and even one for my dog.

The other pictures are hers. I don't know all of who is in there, other
than the marine mammal center pics.

They are interesting. I assume you work there as a volunteer?

If you want to see what I used to look like, there are some really old

Ironic. You sounded just like Max Headroom there.
