problem adding child to JPanel in Applet

Hi,
when I add a child (Canvas3D) to a live applet (already visible), the
child does not appear - it appears only if I add it in the constructor.
UpdateUI() doesn't work either.
If I use the applet in a standalone application, it works fine.
Is this a bug or something like a "security" thing ?
Any work arounds ?

Most likely. (A bug in your code, not a bug in
the JRE.)

Obviously, factor out the Canvas3D for a label
with text "Canvas3D appears here!" (or whatever),
and attempt to add it on button click.
