Quartus V4.0 vs V2.2

Has anyone else seen this or is it just me?

If a compile exactly the same VHDL under Quartus 4.0 it uses up about 12%
more macro cells than it does under Quartus 2.2.

In both cases I have it set to optimize for speed.

Are others seeing this?
