    And if you trim properly then it invalidates the reason given for bottom
    posting. Most NG readers show the thread in correct order and thats
    easier to follow than quoted bottom posts.

    No it isn't. The argument is that bottom posting shows relevent content just
    above the reply. Proper trimming just removes the irrelevent content.

    News posts can arrive on servers in different orders, and do expire. It
    doesn't do much good for the reader to show the posts in the correct order
    if some of them are missing.
