Strangly enough I seem to have missed the possibility of font-downloading.

CSS2 does not mention it, and the 'working draft' about CSS3 on the W3C
    website is dated 2009.

Nevertheless my old test-browsers (FF2.0 dated 2006 and IE6.0 dated
2001) on Win98s downloaded and showed some freeware .tff fonts (off my
own webspace) correctly. Was it already possible a long time ago? Why
    didn't someone tell me?

    greetings, Paul
