    Did you try it without type="text"?

    ok - tried that, no difference. never thought of doing that - what would be
    the purpose? is "text" the default input type?

    Input tag isn't only as text as default, also for numeric data.

    The problem in your case are the radio buttons. When I removed those, the
    input fields work just fine with Opera 7.0

    It is, so if it's not specified, it will default to text (although it's
    always nice to be specific).
