    There is no 'as' attribute for xsl:variable in XSLT 1.0.

    > <xsl:sequence select="(1,2,3,4)"/>
    > <xsl:sequence select="(8,9,10)"/>


    Neither is there an xsl:sequence element.

    Are you sure, Xalan supports the XSLT 2.0 working draft?
