i was wondering whether or not there was a simple way to remove useless
tags like e.g. <font>random text</font>?

Highlight and press the delete key.
why would you put <font> in front of text unless you plan on defining the
font?
Or is that something DW does because of the extremely high price tag?

The easiest solution is to learn how to use Dreamweaver.

Dreamweaver will only put in the tags you tell it to. Just don't use
the <font> tag and you won't have top remove it later.

perhaps i should have rephrased the question. how do i automatically strip
2500 <font>text</font> tags?

neither dreamweaver nor i put them there, they are just a side-effect of a
more elaborate process.

i've been playing with search and replace, but i must be missing something.
what are the right settings for S&R that would strip just empty font tags?
'clean up HTML' doesn't remove them.

thanks!

Edit > Find and Replace

Search for: Specific Tag

font

Action: Strip Tag

(The rest should be obvious. You may need to hit "-" to avoid having to input
an attribute).

i did that and it stripped all font tags. :-/

thanks anyway, i've managed to get S&R to do it in 3 passes.

Whoops, sorry! I must have misread the question.

(I think it could be done using the "without attribute" feature a number of
times, but you don't need to know that now).
