Retrieving the source of an html control

How would i retrieve the html source of an html control
such as a Table control? I think i am in the ballpark
looking a writer but haven't found a solution.

I would like to retrieve the html output so i can send it
directly to the Response stream with a different mime type
so the a user can save it.
