Using .NET, what are some good ways to determine which country a given IP
the request IP address resides in?

You need a country/IP database for that.

Here's a good service...

MaxMind's GeoIP :

The APIs are at : http://www.maxmind.com/app/api
They have both C# and VB.NET classes available.
