As a matter of interest, what would, (should?), be the maximum?

Took 4 secs to load in FF on Win2K Pro, 3Mbs ADSL (200 Kbs actual, as
am too far from CO) in Canada. Website has no DOCTYPE !

TROJAN ALERT! Ignore this post - EzTrust AV popped up with 4 different
trojans!!!

Well, it is just piggybacking off reputable website in an attempt to
throw as many adverts at visitors as possible.

Can anyone review my website?
If interested in link exchange contact me.

Why would anyone want to link exchange with an ugly website that
doesn't do anything other than have pop-ups and dreadful graphics?

Circa 20 seconds to load on Safari, Mac OS 10.4, 1024x768 over AirPort
Express (and a half-meg broadband connection), in the UK.

Grim mate. Grim.

It took 16 seconds here (USA) on my dial-up connection.

16 sec as well, using stop watch, after clearing cache (in case
of any prior access), Sydney, dial up.

Someone (?) once published the results of some study that says that
people will lose interest in a web page if they have to wait longer than
7 seconds for the page to load.

Some web designers get around this by having a page render in separate
stages so that at least the customer can see something happening, or at
least start reading some information, while the entire page might take
longer to load.

I personally don't like this. I use my dad as my page tester. He is in
the 'bush' on the world's slowest dialup account (lucky to get 19KBps on
most nights). If a page loads in less than 7 seconds on his account
then I am satisfied! (Sans video / audio)

I'd have thought using progressive rendering was down to the browser - is
there any way you can control this?

I can think of a few ways to do this for things other than HTML - using
progressive images or avoiding tables for example.

This is what my browser said when trying to access the site that
saz was warning about:

"Domain name: 2SEARCH.CO.NR - has been suspended.

It means this domain name has been suspanded for some reason.
Probably becouse of the violation of CO.NR Terms of Service or
CO.NR Rules."

In other words, you have "probably" been a naughty boy, not as
clean as you should be and saz has probable cause...

Plus you used a server that is administered by folk that badly
need but don't bother to use a spellchecker.

These are facts, 499nag, me, I have not a paranoid bone in my
body[1]

1. For more than that I have no bones.

Yes it has DOCTYPE, in all pages.
