select folder or multiple files with jsp?

Is it possible from within Internet Explorer to browse to select a folder?
The html tag <input type=file .. > only lets you select a single file. I
would either like to be able to either select a folder path (without
selecting a single file), or browse to a folder and select multiple files
rather than a single one.

Is there a way to do this, perhaps in java, using jsp within the browser?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

No you'll need a (signed) applet to do that.
