SP2 or VS 2005 Broke Local Debugging?

I recently installed both XP SP2 and Visual Studio 2005 and now when I try to
debug my application I get an error: "Error while trying to run project:
Unable to start debugging on the web server. Click Help for more infomation.".

I'm an administrator of my local machine and the page runs fine when I start
without debugging.

I've seen some things on the net about enabling remote debugging, but,
again, I'm a local admin so what's up?

I have the same problem but I don't have Windows Firewall enabled (I use a
3rd party firewall). Everything was fine before the SP2 installation. The
article you mention implies that the problem is the Windows Firewall.

let me tell you this... i had my firewall disabled. but sp2 enabled it. so
just go to firewall settings (Control Panel >> Windows Firewall) and check
to see if its on.

if its not on.. then you need to set 3rd party firewall...

Hey Dave,

Thanks very much for your answer.

In MY case the debugging was actually a local problem (not Remote
Debugging). The problem was actually with VS 2005, which switched all of my
old projects to use framework 2. I just had to switch them all back to 1.1 to
get the debugger working.

yes i should have mentioned that as well... though i have never installed
both of them side by side... but i do remember someone mentioning it.

and what you did was correct... switch the version of projects to the
correct framework version. there's an app called version switcher or
something.

It turned out that this was the same problem I had.
