i want to write a jsp program for remote startup and shutdown the
windows xp machine.
i know how to do the startup to send some magic package for wake on lan
but however i don't know how to do the shutdown.
can anyone help me.

This is not a Java problem. Java can't do that, except by calling an
external program via Runtime.exec(). You better ask on a Windows NG
what programs are avilable to do that.
