  1. SELECT COUNT(*) FROM tbl1 WHERE @x = @y

    where @x is the field name
    but it do not work!

    And @y would not be a name ? What is the difference ? Keep in mind that @
    parameters are placeholders for *values*.

    IMO your best bet is to insert the filed name yourself...
