Can anyone reccomend a good company that does not cost an arm and a leg?

  3. You can go with geotrust - $159
Or you can go with any other certificate like godaddy.com provides for $49

The difference is that IE 5.0 and bellow (and minor versions of Netscape)
will pop up a message with godaddy certificate.

Are SSL certificates and x.509 certificates the same?
