Threading of messages in the list?

I notice a lot of the threads are completely broken, with new
Re: messages starting as new threads, etc. Is it a problem with my
settings, a bug, a misfeature, a definite feature, something due to the
fact that this is linked to a newsgroup?

I work with several MLs, and none show this behaviour.
