Unfortunately Rails didn't show up on their radar...

It looks like the nomination process is where the action is, judging
by the somewhat arbitrary disposition of things across the categories
of "scripting languages" and "tools", for example. (Perl and Squeak
are both. Ruby, bash, Python, etc. aren't.) It also seems to be a
kind of quasi-in-house thing addressed to people employed by a small
list of companies (see the "Best Employer" questions -- how would a
general readership know such a thing?).

Looking over some of the entries in the categories, the whole thing
seems pretty half-assed.

Is Smalltalk really a scripting language?

The categories and selections seem business-driven, not developer -driven.

The poll is devoid of any meaning. I'm not voting because it will
increase the purported validity of this "alledged" survey concocted by
Wilson Research Group.

These alledged "research" companies are in business to sell validity
to the proprietary model of software production. In general the free
software community has no money to pay for surveys, so "research"
companies have little incentive to acknowledge the community-based
peer-production model of software development.

This poll is part of the inefficient enterprise software industry
apparatus that we are undermining with dynamic languages and agile
development approaches. Leave the dinosaur to die in peace.
