Tomcat ClassLoader/Compile nightmare

Installed Tomcat 5. Deleted
${catalina.home}\webapps\jsp-examples\WEB-INF\classes\num\NumberGuessBean.cl
ass. numguess.jsp doesn't work anymore:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: num/NumberGuessBean

I have Tomcat 4 installed on Solaris that manifests no such problem.
