Too big and heavy images?

You can begin reading the text immediately because
the images are pre-sized, and because the top one
seems to begin loading first. So it seems OK,
even on dialup.
The images are rather awkwardly arranged, though.
Make it so the bottom two don't move below the
navigation when the window is narrow. They should
stay in their own column.

What about it now? Do you think that even the map of Italy should not be
below the menu on the left?
