UML for .NET developers

There are some great free tutorials on UML for .NET developers to be

what is your opinion on RUP? Are there any agnostic
guidelines for projects of how many developers
or more RUP is better , etc?

for the last couple of months RUP consultants have taken
over in our company - i see a lot or re-aligning every couple of
weeks but little real work.

the problem of course is that the consultants will vanish
after having spent the budget but the employees will
be left to face the music after them.
