Unable to compile website using MSBuild

Hi All,

I have a solution file that contains a number of projects, a web service and
a website. These all build fine in VS2008, and all but the website builds
fine using MSBuild. The website, however, gives the following error:

ASPNETCOMPILER(0,0): error ASPRUNTIME: Could not load file or assembly
'App_WebReferences, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=(our
public key token)' or one of its dependencies. Strong name validation failed.
(Exception from HRESULT: 0x8013141A)

I don't see how this can be as App_WebReferences (which contains a single
WSDL for a web service defined in the same solution file) is not an assembly,
but a folder.

Anny suggestions?

Thanks

Colin

Hi Colin,

You need to make sure that you have ASPNET account rights to your
Application folder because then you can access the GAC, which has the dlls
for the Web Services. I created an Asp.NET web service website and then
added a website and then added the reference for the Webservice in the
solution and then deployed it on the server and then it worked fine.

Manish,

Thanks for this but unfortunately it hasn't worked. I have explicitly added
ASPNET with full-control to the folder where the source is and I am getting
the same errors.

I am not sure that I have done the "then deployed it on the server" bit in
your description. Which project are you deploying, the web service or the
website?

Thanks

Colin
