Unofficial Poll - Popup ads

Just wondering, because I'm having an argument with a friend over a design
concept, how many of you have popup blockers installed? How many of you do
not?

I use Safari and it blocks (unrequested!!) popups. If I click a link
that opens a new window through window.open, it launches the window,
unlike some popup stoppers that block and cancel about anything that has
to do with new windows.

mirror of the general public and how they browse.

Yeah, I posted this question in alt.www.webmaster as well. Someone brought
up the same point. I think though, as someone else mentioned, even AOL is
pushing a popup blocker on their customers...so, I'm pretty sure popups
(apart from being almost as annoying as spam and virus warning hoaxes) are
going to be completely useless, in the very near future.[/QUOTE]

If it is only a small percentage of your target audience who misses
(part of) the site due to popup blocking capability and the designer's
mistake of relying on them, then you have a 'problem'. Because
sufficient and reasonable alternatives would have included those people.

That makes, IMO, polling for popup blocking capability a waste of time.

I've a pop-up-stopper to stop pop-ups popping up.

I too don't mind 'requested' pop-up windows (ie. from clicking on a link),
although I don't tend to produce those anymore.
