I thought I saw a method (someplace in the J2SE API) that would
replace all entity characters with their corresponding reference
values (and visa-versa)?? Is this true or am I imagining things?

    Thanks,

    John

There may be one in the API, but I know for sure there are two tools
    on my website. See http://mindprod.com/products.html#ENTITIES
    and http://mindprod.com/jgloss/products.html#QUOTER

both are free and allow cannibalising.
