The testing process is a formal process that is performed in separate
environments. The department performs the final set of testing in its own
environment, following testing by the IT Testers in their environment. The
department therefore needs experienced web testing experts who are able to
quickly learn and validate complex business processes.
The department development and testing process is carried out fully within
the Rational Toolset. It is therefore advantageous for the consultant to
have experience in validating Test Cases and Test Scripts against Use Cases.
The consultant will need good communications and interpersonal skills to
effectively work with the domain experts and developers in documenting test
results and discussing business processes.
2. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ø Required:
Ø Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ø Ability to communicate effectively with technical and user staff
Ø The consultant will be required to work on premises during this
period.
Ø Demonstrated experience with the testing of web-based applications
Ø Experience developing Test Cases and Test Scripts
Ø Experience using a collaborative defect/issue tracking system
Ø Preferred:
Ø Experience in all aspects of software testing following the Rational
Unified Process methodology
Ø Knowledge of business processes in the medical field in general and
for county health departments in particular
Ø Training/mentoring experience
3. Tasks
For each web application involved, the Web Testing Expert will perform the
following tasks:
Ø Consult with department staff, as necessary, to learn the business
processes in order to perform testing tasks
Ø Perform scripted, regression, and ad hoc testing of application
components
Ø Communicate test results with Department staff and Division of IT
application development staff.
Ø Update Test Scripts as a part of the system maintenance process
