what is the difference between ftp and file server

    what is the difference between ftp server and file server??
    since both deal with storing of the files.

    Usually, FTP access is done with a specialised FTP protocol that is
    visible to the application level, whereas file servers use a NFS
    (network file system) protocol that the OS thinks is just another
    filing system, and is hidden from the application. The application
    never even notices it's dealing with files on another machine.

    rightly pointed out..but before posting this message i searched for
    "ftp and file server" and there was related posting in this group.so i
    posted the question.
    i have many more doubts but couldn't post it coz there is no related
    group.so there is no other way except to try on different group and
    try to get the answers.
    afterall knowledge is the power....
