What is the purpose of the Wno-deprecate flag

It's to tell the damn compiler that it does not get to issue warnings
about things like fopen().

It's only used on compilers that have had a pre-frontal lobotomy.

What is the purpose of the Wno-deprecate flag

It's spelled "-Wno-deprecated". It's specific to gcc. It's also
specific to C++, as explained by the extensive documentation included
with gcc, which would be an excellent place to look for answers to
such questions in the future.
