When will Whidbey be released?

Hayato Iriumi

Been wondering... When will Whidbey be released? I'm really looking forward
to the release. Any information?

I see. I guess we hear no official words from Microsoft yet huh? I'm
really looking forward to Whidbey about the fact that we don't need to
use FrontPage Extension anymore... It has been pain for me in terms of
making automated build system. :)

I normally develop on my workstation and then deploy the app to the
production server later. I don't like to open up too much on the server
unless necessary.

It should prove to be an interesting product to see what other upgrades are
planned for it.

I never said I debug on production server... I was talking about build
machine. :)

Speaking of debugging, I tried remote debug before, but it never worked
for me. Has anyone tried?

Front page extensions? i guess but what i am most excited about is MS'
promise to leave my code alone!

Ha! Amen! (We'll see ... didn't they promise this in v2003?)

Whidbey will be released late this year or maybe next year.
There has been no announcement of a firm date.

What does it mean "MS' promise to leave my code alone" ?

Oh yeah, that too. I hate it when the IDE messes with my code. I really
don't mind VB or C# code being formatted, but not my HTML. Leave my HTML
alone! LOL

html "reformatting"

I like that functionality. Sometimes I'll take other programmers (horribly
formatted) HTML code and reformat it in VS 03. Much easier to read.

But I can see how the 'auto' formatting can be frustrating. Sometimes I'll
switch to the preview tab for a second and when I switch back, all my work
has been reformatted. Takes a second to reorientate.
