Which is a good project to develop online

Which is a good project to develop online in C++, say on sourceforge ?

Deciding factors:
* learn C++, particularly topics tended to be overlooked (exceptions,
templates)
* lead on to something commercial, but with some depth (most things
mathematical / algebraic are cool)
* who is interested ?

What else should be taken into consideration ?

It probably should be a relatively new project, because those tend to use
those features more frequently.

What exactly do you mean by "something commercial, but with some depth"?
* who is interested ?

In what?

I'd suggest to pick a software that will be useful for you. That way, it's
much more fun than developing something only for other people. That's what
Raymond calls "scratch an itch" - write software because you need it.

OK, but why is a new project more likely to use those ?

Use of algorithms / science / art. Rather than "shallow programming"
where you are just using an API or dev enviroment to make something
shallow like a list of records for some secretary, not that that sort
of work is easy it can be quite intricate writing stored procedures on
databases.. commercial but shallow.

In such a project.

Interesting debates. google Raymond "scratch an itch"

hmm, not so easy.
