window.open collapses the menu

I have a menu with sub-menus using the display property to organize things.
When you click on one of my galleries, it opens the gallery in a new window.
The problem is, it collapses my menu again when the new window opens. It
makes remembering what section you were in somewhat difficult.

If someone knows a way to get the menu to not collapse, that would be
appreciated.

If you go to Color Nature and select a gallery, you will see what I mean.

It may not be the window.open. I took out the href="" and it doesn't do the
collapsing thing. It also doesn't act like a regular href either. So I can
make it work now, but I lose all coloring on visited links and such. More
work to do...
