winsock api for newbies

i need some help finding a decent beginners guide to winsock api, for
socket internet development on c++, windows platform,

i have found many tutorials, but most of them are hard to understand,
and the "server" samples they give freeze unless u connect to them, i
no using a socket component or class would be easier, but i wuna learn
how to do it first using winsock api,

i use c++ builder 6, and i would like to create something visual,

can anyone help me out , plz,

You are most likely to get a good peer reviewed answer if you post this
question in a newsgroup where winsock programming is topical, such as
WinSock is not part of
standard C++ hence it is not topical here.
