AudioInputStream byte data persistence

HI,
I am trying to access an AudioInputStream object in a JInternalFrame,
and pass it as a parameter to another JInternalFrame's constructor.
But whenever I do this, when I read from this constructed
AudioInputStream, it always gives me : -1 bytes read. Doesn't the
stream retain it's data while being passed around? Can anyone help?
